Blue Star Fern

Blue Star Fern

The Phlebodium aureum is a firm favourite amongst our customers and we understand why: the Blue Star is a more suitable houseplant than many ferns. Why? Not only are they NOT TOXIC to pets (nor to humans), unlike its humidity-dependent cousins, the fronds of the Blue Star thrive in drier environments, so no misting or fussing is required. Although it tolerates low light levels, it also thrives in bright, indirect light, so it really is fairly adaptable. Naturally epiphytic, this Phlebodium enjoys moist, but not waterlogged soil; it is therefore important to only water from below and/or the side to avoid rotting the crown or wetting those beautiful fronds.

Like most houseplants, it favours rainwater, so if your tap water is particularly hard, remember to be kind and dechlorinate overnight first; it will thank you later with beatiful, healthy growth.
